Campus Event Service (NEW in 2010)

This is an alternative, lower-cost service that Career Centers and Study Abroad offices can offer in conjunction with special events (such as a Career Fair, International Week, International Education Week or Go Abroad Workshop) to help students build global career skills.

CAMPUS EVENT SERVICE

What is the Campus Event Service? Schools purchase access to The BIG Guide for a three-week window. Over the course of this window, an unlimited number of students and staff can register for free 12-month subscriptions to the guide (with a value of $24.95 per user).

Benefits

  • By advertising free 12-month subscriptions to The BIG Guide Online, you can create a buzz for your international event. Advertise this limited-time offer to students and staff in conjunction with your event or series of events on campus. Depending on the level of marketing that is undertaken, a large number of staff and students can benefit from this free 12-month subscription.
  • Regardless of how many students subscribe during the three-week registration window, student advisors have use of The BIG Guide materials for a full year. Registered international student, academic and student advisors from the Career Center and Study Abroad office gain access to all the tools and features of the guide, many of which can be used in seminars and one-on-one counseling sessions.
  • The Campus Event Service allows your school to assess student interest in our online resource before making a commitment to purchase College Site Access to The BIG Guide Online. The Campus Event Service (three-week subscription period) is approximately 50% cheaper than College Site Access to The BIG Guide Online (52-week subscription period).
  • To save 50% on an annual basis, schools may choose to purchase the Campus Event Service each year, combining the three-week window with a strong promotional campaign. If your budgets are tight, consider offering the Campus Event Service annually instead of subscribing to College Site Access to The BIG Guide Online for the full 12-month period.
  • ADDITIONAL SERVICE (OPTIONAL):
My Global Career Skills SEMINAR: Your school has the option of offering this service in conjunction with the three-week subscription window mentioned above.
PART ONE, WEBINAR: Exploring The BIG Guide Online: Presented by Jean-Marc Hachey, author and online publisher of The BIG Guide Online. Jean-Marc hosts an hour-long webinar about building international credentials and instructs students and staff on how to navigate the guide.
PART TWO, WORKSHOP: My International Experience: During this hour-long workshop, a facilitator and two student assistants at your school make use of our online quizzes to coach students as they measure their level of international experience and devise strategies for acquiring global career skills. To assist you with the optional seminar, we provide you with a Project Manual, containing detailed instructions and tools (posters, PowerPoint slides, handouts, evaluation forms), which can be modified to suit your specific needs. Download the MS-Word version: Project Manual (USA) or Project Manual (Canada). NOTE: This 28-page document will take 30 seconds to download and will open as an MS-Word document that you can modify as you customize your event. Alternatively, if you DO NOT use MS Word, download the pdf version (which cannot be modified): pdf Project Manual (USA) or pdf Project Manual (Canada).
