- The "new" BIG Guide Online makes its debut in 2012: Since early 2011, we here at The BIG Guide have been working on a major redesign of our site. Updated content, improved navigation features and a brand new look are just a few of the changes you can expect to see.
- NEW Au Pair, Student Loan and Foreign Student Resource Bibliographies: Here at The BIG Guide, we are constantly considering new Resources and information to make the site useful to those with an international focus of any type. After research and assessment, we have decided to include four new Resource lists: Au Pair Jobs, Study Abroad Loans, Cross-Cultural Tools for the Classroom, Advice for International Students Studying in the US or Canada, Foreign Students Working in the US and Foreign Students Working in Canada. These Resource lists are currently being developed and will be completed over the course of spring and summer, 2011.
- UPDATE Resources: Our research staff is constantly updating and reviewing our extensive selection of Resources. Our new Update log lets you know when a Resource was last reviewed by our research team. We have also undertaken a broad clean-up project, wherein every individual Resource is updated with the latest link and information. (Ongoing from September, 2008.)
- NEW International Business Chapter: We are actively working on researching and writing for this new chapter, which will be completed by spring, 2011. In June, we posted (1) a draft table of contents, and (2) three new related Resource lists: International Business Practice, Cross-Cultural Business Skills and Consulting, Economic & Finance Job Boards. - UPDATE NGOs Outside North America Chapter: We are undertaking a major re-write of this chapter and in June we posted (1) a new Resource list NGO Directories; (2) two new Organization Profiles lists NGOs: Australia And New Zealand and NGOs in the United Kingdom. View (June, 2010.)
- UPDATE Canadian Government Chapter: The content and resources associated with this chapter are currently being updated. (December, 2010 - May, 2011.)
- NEW My Global Career Skills Newsletter: Students will appreciate this ”career tip of the month” newsletter, which has a focus on practical suggestions on building global career skills. (Available in late spring, 2011.)
- NEW Student Advisor Tools:
- Online Courses for Students and Student Advisors: We have already released the My Global Career Skills seminar and we plan to develop online courses covering the following topics: travel abroad, study abroad, intern abroad, work abroad, international resumes & interviews. (Intermittent release, 2011-2012.)
- Accreditation in Global Career Skills: We are assessing the feasibility of introducing an accreditation process to measure your readiness to support the acquisition of global careers skills. (Fall 2011.)
- Campus Projects to Promote Global Career Skills: This section will contain over 30 projects designed to help students build international experience while on campus. (late, 2011.)
- Campus Internationalization 101: This new student advisor tool will help demystify the concept that's sweeping campuses around the world. (late, 2011.)
- Award-Winning Internationalization Projects: The editors of The BIG Guide have chosen a series of award-winning projects for student advisors to tap into. These projects align with our specific philosophy of promoting students’ international skills. (late, 2011.)
