Extended Features
EDITOR’S NOTE: This page describes the additional components (Extended Features = Tools and My School) available with the PREMIUM price plan for College Site Access. See STANDARD ACCESS for the basic components also available as part of the PREMIUM price plan.
Tools (Premium price plan only)
- Quick Guide Tools: These are one-page summaries of the most popular topics (23 in English and 20 in French, with more on the way). Easy to read and print. Valuable to students and those advising students. Your college has full reproduction rights to these guides. This empowers your student advisors in the career office as well as those in the study abroad and international student offices.
- Learning Tools: These timely bits of information will be sent regularly to students, helping them stay motivated and focused throughout their years in college as they build international credentials with easy to implement tips from The BIG Guide. Learning tools include: Tip of the Week, Newsletter Archive, Podcasts and Quick Tip Videos.
- Tracking Tools: Measure and track student success with simple but powerful tools. Students will have a dashboard to measure and score their international credentials. Quiz answers are permanent and allow students to raise their score card measuring their international IQ rating, track their skills and career strategy tracking (like a shopping cart of ideas). Tracking Tools include: My Score Card, International IQ Quizzes, International Skills Inventory, International Career Strategy Tracking and Action Plans.
- Schematic Tools: Students learn best when they can see a schematic diagram helping them understand the bigger picture of our proposed strategies/models. Schematic Tools include: The BIG Guide Job Search Model, The Ideal International Profile, The Student Cycle and Table of Content Reader Tracking.
- Student Advisor Tools: Almost all our student services also help student advisors. Two services which are specific to student advisors are Campus Projects and International Career Advising. Our list of Campus Projects provides innovative and easy-to-implement ideas on how colleges can create opportunities for students to build their international credentials while in school. Our services for International Career Advising are still being developed so stay tuned.
My School (Premium price plan only)
- School Announcements: Market your school’s international events to students who are thinking “international” while using The BIG Guide Online. Our RSS feed notifies students when any new postings are updated on this site. (This section may be disenabled if school administrators do not wish to manage this section.)
- International Services Links: These are links to your college’s international services, programs and documents. Organize this section any way you wish. Consider listing internationally focused courses at your school, student international clubs or student go-abroad stories.
- Student Networking: This service allows students at your school to get in touch with fellow internationalists on campus. Students post a short profile of their international interest and experience. Students e-mail addresses remain private when being contacted by others. This is a great way to strengthen the international community at your school.
- School Branding: Your school logo appears in the top right hand corner of all The BIG Guide Online pages. Your logo also appears during the user registration process.
- School Administrators Features: School administrators, career counselors, study abroad advisors, international student advisors all appreciate: usage statistics, user demographics, campus reports (including aggregate International IQ ranking). Other management reports coming soon.
